MRT in Taichung




Following Taipei and Kaohsiung MRT projects, "Taichung Metropolitan MRT Wuri-Wenxin-Beitun Line Construction Project", was beginned from Nov. 15, 2008. Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) will take care of this project.

Traveling on a viaduct, the planned route will start in the east from Songzhu Road near Bridge No. 2, Beitun District, Taichung City, go west along Songzhu Road, cross a Taiwan Railways' line, turn left on to Beitun Road, go along Beitun Road, then at the intersection of Wenxin Road Sec. 4 turn right to Wenxin Road, and go along Wenxin South Road before turning on to Jianguo Road behind Chung Shan Medical University. After passing over the Huanzhong Road viaduct and running past Zhongzhang Expressway, the route will go along the north side of a Taiwan Railways' track and run across Fazi Creek and enter the Taiwan High Speed Rail Taichung Station area.

The entire route will be an elevated construction totaling 16.71 km in length with 18 stations (shown in the planned route diagram) and is scheduled to be completed in October 2015.
